Austrian Crazy Person Slacklines a Cathedral

Christian Waldner has made history as the first person to walk a slack line set between the spires of the St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, Austria. I’m also guessing he’ll be the last person to do so. I doubt churches are actively searching for people to do stunts on their buildings. And if there is such a church please call me so I can start attending there.

If you’re unfamiliar with the sport of slack lining it’s when you take a rope or a length of webbing and stretch it between two points. Then you walk across it. It was made for people who thought tightropes were for wussies, also known as hipsters. At least Waldner is making the sport cool to watch. The only slackliners I’ve seen in real life is this group that stretches a tie-down strap 8 inches above the ground between two trees up on the University campus. You’re not cool, you’re in the way!

Hit the jump for a video of the crossing over.
