Most people I know will only run for one of two reasons, there is only one sale item left on the shelf and some one else is going of it, or the are in mortal danger and must run to live. And the latter isn’t always applicable. Other people however, they run for fun and fitness.
James “The Beast” Nielson, a two-time NCAA 5,000m champion, has claimed the record for being the first person to do the Beer Mile in under five minutes.
For the uninitiated: The Beer Mile involves running a mile around a track while stopping every 400 meters to drink a whole can of beer. Nielson completed the feat in 4 minutes 57 seconds.
That’s a heck of a lot faster than I can run a mile, even while morbidly sober. I’m not even sure I could free fall a mile that fast. But that has more to do with morbid obesity. The most impressive part is that he doesn’t slow down all the significantly. His last lab is the same time as his first.
