If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about how Hef did it, instead of just looking at the girls that did him, then now if your chance. His Biography is coming out. Unlike most biographies however, this one is six volumes long. I guess that means there is a lot to tell.
Learn how he rose from a lowly cartoonist in Chicago to the founder of one of the most successful men’s magazines in Hugh Hefner’s Playboy ($160). Read the story of his military history, work as a cartoonist, his many beautiful girlfriends, and the rise of Playboy, all told by the man himself. This six-volume hardcover collection contains writing from well-known authors — Mailer, Fleming, Bradbury — original artwork, cartoons, correspondence, 25 fold-outs, and a wealth of many never-before-seen photographs from the Playboy Mansion, Playboy Clubs and the Big Bunny jet.
I don’t think this is one I’ll be purchasing. I don’t have $160 kicking around that I can spend of biographies. My car needs tires. For those of you that do purchase the set I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest you don’t read them at work. Unless you have some sort of awesome job where you can get away with stuff like that. If that’s the case, please hire me.
