It’s happened to all of us, we put our phone on silent only to have it start making noise again at the most inopportune time. Usually during a movie, or a job interview, or church, or in bed. I remember how my phone was constantly asking for a voice command, until I glued the button down. Finally Ron Adair of Salt Lake City, UT has come up with a solution, for the iPhone at least.
He’s created a Kickstarter project to get backing for The Mutator. It’s a little plug that fits in the headphone jack and lets you completely mute your phone. It will make no sound at all when the Mutator is turned on.
It’s Murphy’s law: if I’m at an important meeting, or some other place where my iPhone absolutely should not make noise, it invariably will find a way to be disruptive. We’ve all been there when it happens to us (or if we’re lucky, to someone else) and it can be quite embarrassing.
Although there is a “Ring/Silent” switch on most iOS devices, I have repeatedly found that videos, music, apps and even Siri can make noise when the switch is set to silent.
