Do Not Want: Bad Taxidermy

This is the best of the bunch so prepare yourself.

This is the best of the bunch so prepare yourself.

Since you are already a loyal follower of Uncanny Flats you know how I love lists of things. Particularly lists of funny or interesting things. This time I’ve come across a group of images of some bad (read: creepy) taxidermy compiled by Vincze Miklós .

I really hope all of these animals were the first attempt of their various taxidermists. But I’m not even sure all of them were dead before the stuffing was started. Some have back stories to try and explain away their badness. Things like how king Frederick I of Sweden was given a lion pelt and bones but his taxidermist had never seen a lion before so he just went to town. But I don’t accept excuses so I’m not listing them.

I remember visiting a friends house while growing up. His dad had a big mule deer head mounted above the couch. Which is quite common in my home town. Only this deer had a big sh*t-eating grin on it’s face. You’ve never seen a deer happier to be on the wall.

Hit the jump for more images than you can swing a stuffed cat at.

[…] I won’t ruin it for you by telling you what happens, you’ll have to look at the pictures after the jump. But it will be worth your time, I promise. And there will be more pictures of Heritage for those of you who like peace and diversity in your taxidermy. […]
