CCTV footage from the Wentworthville Hotel in Sydney, Australia shows a shop owner lighting a 10 liter (about 2.5 gallons) can of gasoline and blowing up his store with it. Amazingly, as is the apparent theme of the day, no one was killed.
The man is accused of causing the explosion that devastated his Jomaa Market shop and a flat above – the blast blowing the resident out of the building and onto the footpath.
Mr Jomaa has been charged with destroying property with intent to endanger life and remanded in custody to appear at Central Local Court in Sydney on October 17.
The 36-year-old, who broke both his legs, injured his pelvis and neck, and received burns to his face in the explosion, was refused bail at a bedside hearing at Royal North Shore Hospital yesterday.
Nine officers were also treated for burns and smoke inhalation.
I’m not sure if this was some kind of insurance fraud thing, or is Mr. Jomaa wanted to blow up the guy upstairs. Either way it’s nice how he got the instant karma he deserved. It’s always nice when that happens.
