Imagine the Shedding: Cat with the World’s Longest Fur

Colonel-Meow-cat-longest-fur-jpgGuinness has announced that the cat Colonel Meow’s fur has reached 9 inches long making him a world record holder. And a fire hazard.

The two-year-old feline, named Colonel Meow because of his “epic frown and fur”, will celebrate his achievement with his owners, Anne Marie Avey and Eric Rosario, at their home in Los Angeles.

Colonel Meow, who was adopted as a rescue cat from the Himalayan & Persian Society, needs his fur brushed 2–3 times a week, and it takes both Anne and Eric to complete the job. The couple say that they never use products on Colonel Meow’s fur, applying only water and brushes if he gets dirty. But they admit that they do spend a lot of time vacuuming their flat.

I thought the trend these days was towards cats with short hair, or those ugly-as-sin ones with no hair at all. I guess some people choose a different path in pet ownership. And that path is knee deep in shredded fur and allergy medicine.
