Not a Vampire: Boy Survives Stake to the Chest

Josh-Hassan-spike_2609823bThis is becoming a theme on Uncanny Flats, people spearing themselves and living. Of course this time its a chest shot and not a harpoon to the head, but we’ll take what we can get. And anything you can dish out.

The above is an x-ray of Josh Hassan a 12 year-old boy still living in Chadwell Heath, Essex, England. Josh was attempting to jump over a fence to retrieve a football. We know they really mean a soccer ball. He slipped on the way over and took a 12 inch wrought iron spike to the chest.

“The doctors said the spike was only two and a half inches away from his heart.”

One of the fire crew said after the incident: “The metal had gone though the bottom of his chest and out the top but amazingly it had not punctured any organs. He was a very lucky boy.”

It’s unclear whether or not Josh was able to retrieve the ball or not. My guess is the creepy old man that lives in the house with a wrought iron fence covered in foot long spikes took the ball and squirreled it down to his basement where he keeps it next to the kites and Frisbees he’s already gathered this year.
