If there is one thing that everyone loves it’s the recent trend in public service announcements which scare people into not being dirt-bags. You remember the one about staying in school, and the one about texting while driving, and then there was the one about drunk driving.
This time we’re dealing with something far more common and far more terrifying, depending on who you ask. Speeding. Just ask my grandpa, he’ll tell you, speeding cars is the holocaust of this generation. After seeing this ad out of Northern Ireland, I’d believe it.
“Since 2000, speeding has killed a classroom of our children,” the voiceover warns. “Shame on you.”
A representative for the Department of the Environment rep told The Daily Mirror that putting children in danger is one of the few factors that compel the average driver to slow down. The agency also wanted to convey the message that speeding is more than an incidental contributor to road accidents.
