Robo Paul the Cyborg Octopus to Predict the World Cup

Robo PaulMeet Robo Paul. He’s a “cyborg octopus” built with the sole purpose of predicting the outcome of the soccer World Cup which starts today. He was built by Cody Erekson, one of the guys behind Zombie Watchdog.

From his Facebook page:

Paul the Octopus was a common octopus living in a tank at a Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen, Germany, who was used as an animal oracle to predict the results of football matches. Having predicted his own impending death, his handlers were able to secretly remove him to the VPS.net labs where he was kept alive and implanted with cutting edge cyborg technology. He has now come forth as RoboPaul, once again divining the winners of World Cup matches.

I’ve been using Robo Paul’s help to predict games all morning. Now I just have to hope he’s really good so I can win the bracket competition at work.

Anyone know if the games are going to be broadcast on any of the 4 channels I can get over the air? I would like to watch at least some small portion of them just so I can say I did.

Hit the jump for a video.
