Artist Gehard Demetz created a set of wooden carvings that he calls The Invocation. The set of sculptures are meant to comment on the transition from childhood to adulthood. Apparently that transition is absolutely terrifying in Italy instead of just annoying and inconvenient like it is here in America. You’ll get the idea as you go through the set.
I don’t like to read into the deeper meanings of art much. At all. That’s why I’m just taking these sculptures at face value. Which is horrifying.
Makes me glad I live in America where I was given a gun for my birthday, and didn’t have one strapped to my head like a gag. I also was never forced to wear shorts and knee-high black socks.
